The Challenger Series League (CSL) is a play program at MLTC, renowned for its engaging and competitive format. Participants compete in weekly doubles matches, partnering with and against different players at their skill level. At the end of each session, the player with the highest points can advance to the next level for the following season. Originally established as a women’s league, CSL now proudly features both women's and men's divisions.
The CSL welcomes players from various clubs who are at the 2.75 level or higher. Our leagues are divided into divisions based on player strength, ensuring balanced and exciting matches. A membership is required to participate in the Fall and Winter sessions.

In the Challenger Series League, players are partnered with a different player each week and compete against different opponents weekly. Matches consist of two sets played with no-ad scoring. If the 1.5-hour match time expires before two sets are completed, the team with the greatest total number of games won is declared the winner. If teams split sets, a match tiebreaker is played. Scores are recorded in the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) system, the standard for determining tennis skill levels.

Division standings are based on the highest average number of points won during a session: 3 points per match played, 2 points per set won, 2 points per match won, and -2 points per default loss. The player with the highest point average will have the option to be promoted to a higher division, while the player at the bottom of the standings will be moved down a level.
Example 1: 6-4, 6-4 – Winner: 9 points; Loser: 3 points
Example 2: 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 – Winner: 7 points; Loser: 5 points
Example 3: Default (no sub played) – Loser: -2 points
The advantages are substantial:
About the only disadvantage is if you wanted to play with the same player all the time. In this instance that will not happen; however, the beauty of playing with someone different each week is the potential to meet other players and to possibly find others with whom you may have great chemistry.
Whoever has the highest point average will have the option of getting bumped up to a higher division.

Players are placed in divisions based on their NTRP ratings. We offer a free evaluation to help determine your level if you are not sure what your NTRP rating is. Learn more about the NTRP Ratings System here.
